Welcome to LodgingGuide's hospitality industry listings for the Harrisburg area.
If the world's noise and rush are starting to get to you, there is no better place to go for renewal than south central
Pennsylvania. The rolling, green pastures, old farmhouses, antique shops and old country stores throughout the countryside
will relax you to your soul, take you back to a simpler era, and make life fun again. At the center of it all is Harrisburg,
originally a ferry stop on the Susquehanna River, and now downtown for this rural area, as well as Pennsylvania's capital.
The world famous Harrisburg Symphony, and the Friends of Jazz who sponsor many live concerts in the parks and other venues
throughout the year, also help define Harrisburg as a musical town. Harrisburg and the surrounding area is a treasure
for those interested in Civil War and early American history, with its many museums and historical landmarks. A pleasant
and informative way to survey the entire area is to take a guided riverboat cruise on the Susquehanna. Milton
Hershey's chocolate factory was built near Harrisburg, and now has expanded into the town of Hershey, complete with an
amusement park, a theater hosting Broadway shows, and several outstanding golf courses. Next door to the Hershey factory is
the 11-acre ZooAmerica wildlife park. Nearby is the town of Carlisle, with its bed and breakfast farms, old fashioned shops,
and lots of great places to fish in the area's many streams and creeks. Step back in time, and spend a while in the
Harrisburg area getting reacquainted with yourself and with the American countryside.
